On KitchenAid electric radiant touch-control cooktops, such as the KCES550HSS, F1E0 indicates a problem with the Cooktop Control or the wiring connected to it. The control is the brain that decides which cooking area gets power. When it or its harness is in trouble, the cooktop may shut down or refuse to heat, with the code on the display. It is a control-side code, so pans, spills and cooking habits are not the cause.
1. Turn all cooking areas off. 2. Reset the cooktop breaker for a minute, then turn it back on. 3. Test one cooking area with a pan while watching the display. 4. If F1E0 returns, stop using the cooktop and call us.
It is the electronic board that takes your touch commands and sends power to each cooking area. F1E0 says that board, or the wiring connected to it, is not working as expected.
Not always. Wiring or connectors can cause the same code, so we test before quoting. That avoids paying for a board when the harness is the real culprit.
We recommend leaving the cooktop off. If the control is failing, it may power areas unpredictably, and that risk is not worth a quick meal.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
