KitchenAid induction cooktops in the KCIG550 and KICU509 families display E_A when the cooktop is too hot. The control panel switches off because the internal temperature of the electronics is too high. Cooking stops and the display shows E_A until the unit cools. The code is about heat, not about your cookware. Pans on the glass stop heating at once and keep only the heat they already hold.
1. Turn all zones off and move pans aside. 2. Leave the cooktop alone until it is cool. 3. Check that vents and the cabinet below are not blocked. 4. Cut power at the breaker for one minute and restore it. 5. Cook at a reduced level and monitor whether E_A comes back.
They share the same published meaning: the electronics are too hot and the panel has switched off. Both are handled by letting the cooktop cool before use.
Keep the zones off and the area open. Do not spray or wipe with water on hot glass. Natural cooling is safest and takes a while.
If E_A returns after normal cooking with clear vents, call us. We inspect the cooling, state the price in writing first and provide a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
