On KitchenAid induction cooktops like the KICU509XSS, F1E1 follows the same plan as the other F-E codes: unplug the cooktop's power, wait a few seconds and reconnect. Should the problem persist, the cooktop needs service, and the code on the display should be mentioned when you call. Until it clears, zones usually stay cold. The code names no single part, which is why a power cycle is tried first and a visit follows if it comes back. Owners of these cooktops generally find the display stuck on the code until power is restored.
1. Turn all zones off. 2. Switch the cooktop breaker off for a few seconds. 3. Turn it on and see if the display is clear and a zone heats a pan. 4. If F1E1 is back, stop and call us.
F1E0 shows up on radiant cooktops and points to the cooktop control or wiring. F1E1 is an induction code, and its first remedy is a power disconnect and reconnect.
Then use the cooktop as usual, but remember the date. A code that comes back every few weeks suggests a part on its way out, and we would rather check before it fails completely.
Someone should be there to let us in and see the cooktop. We explain what we find and give the price in writing before we do any work.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
