On KitchenAid front-load dryers from about 2005 to 2008, such as the KEHS01PWH electric and KGHS01PWH gas models, PF stands for power failure. The drying cycle was interrupted by a loss of power. It is a status message, not a damaged part. You see PF on the display, and to restart, press and hold START (HOLD TO START). The clothes stay damp until you restart it.
1. Check that the household power is on and the breaker has not tripped. 2. Make sure the dryer plug is fully seated, if accessible. 3. Press and hold START until the dryer restarts. 4. Let the cycle finish. 5. If PF appears often with steady household power, call us.
Power failure. The dryer lost power during a cycle and shows PF. Pressing and holding START resumes drying. It appears once power returns, and it is only a notice.
If your home had no outage, check the breaker and the plug. A loose connection can cut power briefly. If the supply is solid, the dryer needs a look.
It is only a notice about an interrupted cycle. We check the supply and the dryer if it repeats, and quote in writing first. Dryers are safe with this message.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
