On KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges in the KFEG, KFGG, KSEG, KSGG and KFGS series, Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab or 5A7 on the display means Sabbath Mode is enabled. In this mode the oven stays on in a Bake setting until it is turned off, and only the Bake cycle will operate. Owners notice it when the oven refuses every other cycle and the display shows one of these labels instead of the usual time of day.
1. Confirm the display shows Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab or 5A7 rather than a time of day. 2. Cancel Sabbath Mode with the steps in the instructions that came with your range. 3. When the label clears, set a Bake temperature and check that the oven heats. 4. On a gas range, if you ever smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. 5. If Bake still does not work after canceling, stop and call us.
Sabbath Mode limits the oven to the Bake cycle and keeps it on in a Bake setting until you turn it off. Every other cycle is unavailable until the mode is canceled.
They are different labels for the same message: Sabbath Mode is enabled. Which one you see depends on the control and display on your range, and each points to the same mode.
No. It is a normal setting, and canceling it simply returns the range to its usual cycles. If the label returns on its own or Bake will not heat afterward, call us and we will check the control.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
