KitchenAid KHSU265WBA Slide-Out Hood Repair

The KHSU265WBA is a 36-inch slide-out range hood, which is designed to tuck under a cabinet and pull forward when you cook. That sliding panel is what makes it different from a fixed hood, and it is where the service calls begin.
If the panel binds or drags, we check the slides for grease and wear. On many slide-out hoods, moving the panel also triggers the blower, so a panel that moves but does not start the fan points to the switch it actuates. The blower, filters and lights are tested after that: a squeal means the bearing, weak airflow means grease on the filters or wheel, and a dead light means the socket.
A written price is given before we order any part, and our work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
We clean the slides, check for bent tracks and lubricate where appropriate. If a roller or track is worn, we replace it so the panel glides smoothly.
The switch that the panel actuates may not be closing, or the motor may have failed. We test the switch and the motor separately and replace the one that fails.
Remove them from the underside, soak them in hot soapy water, rinse and let them dry completely. Doing this regularly keeps airflow strong and protects the blower motor.
