KitchenAid KHTU765S 36-Inch Hood Repair

The KHTU765S is a 36-inch under-cabinet range hood, also sold as the KHTU765SSS. The wider 36-inch body matches a 36-inch range or cooktop, so it has a larger grease-catching surface than a 30-inch hood.
More surface means filters that load up faster, and a clogged filter is the most frequent reason a hood seems weak. We pull the filters, check the wheel for grease and listen to the motor. If the blower hums without moving air, the bearing or the capacitor is a suspect. Switches and lights are tested last, and the duct connection above the hood is inspected for grease or a loose joint, since either one makes a new blower feel weak.
We give a written price before work begins, and the repair is covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
A seized bearing or a failed capacitor can cause this. We spin the wheel by hand and test the capacitor, then replace whichever part fails and leave the rest of the hood alone.
It has more filter area, but with heavy cooking the filters still load up. Wash them when grease is visible, and check them more often if you fry often.
Vibration from an unbalanced wheel can loosen the socket over time. We clean the wheel, check the motor mount and secure or replace the socket so the light holds steady.
