KitchenAid KXU2836J Slide-Out Repair

The KXU2836J is a 36-inch slide-out hood from KitchenAid, mounted beneath a cabinet with a panel that pulls out over the range. Sold as KXU2836JSS too.
With a moving panel and a wide filter area, grease on the slide and filters are what we deal with most. We clean the slide, check the switch that senses the panel, remove the filters and run the blower and lamps. Our price is stated in writing first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty applies.
This hood spends most of its life pushed in and out of sight, so grease on the track often goes unnoticed. A visit that cleans the track and filters can restore smooth travel. We finish by sliding the panel in and out a few times and running the fan, so you see the hood working as a whole.
Grease and dust on the track slow it down. We clean the track, check the rollers for wear and lubricate where it is appropriate, so the panel moves freely again over the range.
The panel switch may have failed, since the fan often starts from the panel position. We test the switch and the wiring behind it, and quote the replacement in writing before we install anything.
Yes. A thirty-six-inch filter holds a lot of grease and it sits right above the range. Wash it regularly so the blower stays clean, and we will gladly inspect the blower during any service visit.
