KitchenAid KFGS530E Freestanding Gas Range Service

The KFGS530E has a feature most ranges lack, a warming and slow-cook drawer below the oven, and that drawer is often the first thing owners notice failing. It is a 30-inch freestanding gas range with a 5.8 cu. ft. oven, five sealed burners from 5,000 to 18,000 BTU and a steam rack, and it is also sold as the KFGS530ESS.
If the drawer stays cold or the heat wanders, we test its element and thermostat before anything else. Burners that click without lighting get cleaned and their igniters tested. Up in the oven, a sensor that has aged will skew the baking, and the convection fan can start to grind or rattle. Each is measured, not assumed. Never stay inside with a gas odor; go out and call the gas utility from the street. The price is given in writing, and our repair is covered for 30 days.
We check its heating element, the thermostat and the control wiring. A drifting thermostat can also make it too warm or too cool, so we measure actual drawer temperature.
Moisture or food residue at the igniter is the most common cause, especially after a boil-over. We clean the burner head, dry the area and test the spark, then replace the igniter when its spark is weak or irregular.
We would test the oven first. Uneven heat suggests a sensor or fan problem, and moisture from the rack can hide it, so we diagnose before you rely on that cooking method.
