Only one speed of my KHMS105E exhaust works. Why?

Either the speed switch or one winding of the fan motor has failed. We test both with a meter to decide which part to replace.

Does the hood vent outdoors or recirculate?

That depends on how it was installed. We check on the visit, and we replace the charcoal filter only if the hood recirculates air into the kitchen. If it vents outdoors, the grease screen is the filter that matters.

Will a loaded filter damage the microwave?
