KitchenAid KMHC319L Microwave Hood Service

The KMHC319L, with the black stainless version sold as KMHC319LBS, hangs over the cooktop and handles steam and splatter every time a pan is on. The lamp area takes the most abuse: heat rises straight into it, so a dark bulb is common, and a socket that has turned brown will burn out the next bulb as well.
When we arrive we test the lamp circuit first, then move to the door. Hinges that have loosened allow the door to hang low, and the switches on the latch side stop engaging reliably. The fan and filters follow. A blower that has started to rumble usually has a greasy wheel or exhausted filters, and we clean what can be cleaned before suggesting a motor. We also look at the vent opening above the range for obstructions.
You hear the price in writing before work begins, and the repair is covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
The socket is probably heat damaged and making poor contact. We inspect it, replace the holder if it is discolored, and fit a new bulb so the repair holds.
It should be fixed. A drooping door can miss the safety switches and stop the oven mid-cycle. We replace worn hinge parts and confirm the latch engages cleanly.
We clean the grease screens, replace the charcoal filter if needed, and spin the blower by hand to feel for rough bearings. A motor is replaced only when the noise remains.
