On KitchenAid built-in dishwashers with the F#E# control, such as the KDPM604KPS and KDFE104HPS, eight blinks, a pause, five blinks and a longer pause repeat for F8E5. The fill valve is stuck open, so water keeps coming in when it should stop. You see the Clean light repeat this pattern, and the dishwasher will not run normally. Expect the sound of water running when it should be quiet.
1. Count eight blinks, a pause and five blinks. 2. Turn off the water supply right away. 3. Press Cancel once with the door closed and power on so it can drain. 4. If you cannot shut the water off, turn off power at the breaker. 5. Do not run the dishwasher until we have checked it.
LED models use this pattern in place of F8E5. The fill valve is stuck open, so water keeps entering. The dishwasher raises the alarm and stops normal operation.
Shut off the water supply. With the door closed and power on, press Cancel once so the dishwasher can drain. Cut power only if the water cannot be shut off.
Often a stuck valve is replaced, but we test first. You see the price in writing before we start, and the work has a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
