Dishwasher Repair in Houston

A dishwasher that will not drain, clean or start usually has a simple reason hiding behind the filter. We check the whole path, from the supply valve to the drain hose, and give you the price in writing.

The KitchenAid dishwasher line spans front-control and top-control models, plus panel-ready units whose door matches the cabinets. They share the same basic layout: a water inlet valve, a circulation pump, a drain pump, a heating element and spray arms above and below, all run by an electronic control.

Houston’s hard water puts a lot of stress on all of that. Scale coats the heating element, clogs spray arm holes and sticks the detergent door, while food debris builds up in the filter and works its way to the drain pump. Older units also develop leaks at door seals and hose clamps.

We start at the filter, then the arms and the drain path, then run a test cycle to watch the fill, wash, heat and drain. That tells us whether the answer is a quick cleaning or a replacement part.

05Dishwasher questions
Why are my dishes cloudy after washing?

Hard water, too much detergent or a clogged spray arm are the usual reasons. Cleaning the filter and arms helps, and rinse aid can reduce film. If the problem remains, we test the water inlet and heating.

Is standing water in the bottom normal?

A small amount near the sump is sometimes normal, but a pool after the cycle is not. Food in the filter, a kinked hose or a garbage disposal knockout plug can all cause it, and we check each of them.

How long should a dishwasher last?

Many last around ten years or more with regular filter cleaning. Hard water shortens that, so we may suggest simple habits and a periodic cleaning cycle to help.
