KitchenAid built-in dishwashers with the F#E# control, such as the KDTM404KPS and KDFE104HPS, show F9E1 for a long drain. The dishwasher is taking too long to pump water out. You see F9E1 on the display, and there may be water standing in the tub. The checks are the filter, the drain hose, the disposer knockout plug and the air gap, then a power cycle.
1. Remove the lower rack and rinse the filter under running water. 2. Look behind the dishwasher for a kink in the drain hose. 3. Run the disposer empty if you have one. 4. Clean the air gap on the sink, if present. 5. Turn off power for 30 seconds, restore it and run a short cycle.
Water leaves the tub too slowly. A dirty filter, a kinked hose, an unremoved knockout plug or a clogged air gap are the usual causes.
Yes. LED models flash nine times, pause, then one time, to show the same code that digital models spell out. Both are quick checks you can do while the dishwasher rests.
If the filter, hose, disposer and air gap are clear and F9E1 still returns. We test the drain pump and quote in writing before we start.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
