Displayed as 1d21, this KitchenAid range code warns of a possible problem with the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the associated wiring. The 1d2 pair, 1d21 and 1d22, belongs with the 1d1 pair under the same message, and no model is named. Look for an oven that struggles to hold temperature, or one that will not preheat at all.
1. Switch the oven off. 2. Wait until it is cool to the touch. 3. Remove loose foil or pans that may touch the sensor. 4. Cycle the breaker off for a minute and on again. 5. Try a brief bake; if 1d21 returns, call us.
You cannot tell from outside. A technician measures the sensor and then checks the control and the wiring to find which of the three needs repair.
Foil lining the oven bottom can disturb heat and sometimes touches parts it should not. Remove it, but a code that persists still needs proper testing.
Only if the code does not come back. If it returns after a one-minute breaker reset, a hands-on check is needed and we will quote it in writing first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
