F5E1 shows up on KitchenAid commercial-style ranges with knob controls and app connectivity, the KFGC and KFDC family that includes the KFGC500JSS. Like F5E0, it relates to the main oven door. You will see the code in the display, and the way to cancel it is to turn the temperature knob to OFF. When the code reappears, a power reset is the next step before a technician looks at the door.
1. Turn the temperature knob to the OFF position. 2. Look for anything blocking the main oven door from closing, and shut it firmly. 3. Turn the range off at the breaker for about a minute, then switch it back on. 4. Watch the display for a minute to see whether F5E1 stays gone.
The main oven door of the commercial-style range. On 48-inch double-oven models the left oven door has its own codes, F5E3 and F5E4, so the two sets of codes point to different doors.
Turn the temperature knob to the OFF position. If the code remains, cut power at the breaker for about a minute, restore it, and look at the display again. A code that comes back needs a visit.
Cancel it first with the knob. If it comes back each time you start the oven, stop using the oven and book a visit, because the door condition behind the code has not gone away.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
