Seen on KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges like the KSEG700ESS and KSGG700ESS, F6 E4 means there may be a problem with the oven appliance manager or the oven control, or the wiring between them. It joins two parts that the lower F6 codes name separately. The display shows F6 E4, and the oven may stop heating or refuse to start a cycle.
1. Press Cancel to clear the code. 2. Switch the range breaker off for one minute, then back on. 3. See whether F6 E4 reappears when the oven is idle. 4. If it does, stay away from the oven and call us. If you ever smell gas, get out and call the utility.
The oven appliance manager, the oven control and the wiring between them. A technician tests each in turn and replaces only what is proven bad, instead of changing everything at once.
It is a control code, so we advise not using the oven while it is showing. The burners on a gas or dual-fuel range are separate, but use them with care and stop if anything seems off.
A reset may clear the display for a while. If the code returns during a cycle, a visit is needed, because the appliance manager or the control still has a problem that waiting will not remove.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
