For KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges including the KFEG500ESS and KFGS530ESS, F8 E2 reports that there may be a problem with the oven cooling fan or the associated wiring. Unlike F8 E0, an airflow restriction is not named here. The code appears in the display on the range, and the fan may be slow, loud or even silent while the oven is hot.
1. Press Cancel and leave the oven door ajar to cool the cavity. 2. Listen for the fan after the oven is turned off. 3. Cut power at the range breaker for a minute and restore it. 4. If F8 E2 shows again, stop baking and call us.
It cools the oven and the control area as heat builds. F8 E2 says the fan or its wiring may be a problem, so the oven may not shed heat the way it should.
Treat it as a code to resolve before regular use. A cooling fan that does not work well leaves heat in the range, so keep the oven off until it is looked at.
We do not recommend opening the range. Fan work involves live wiring and panels that should be handled by a technician, and we give a written price before starting.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
