What Flashing Time, Clock, 12:00, Power Loss or Enter Time means

On KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges such as the KFEG500ESS and KFGG500ESS, a flashing Time, a 12:00 reading, or the words POWER LOSS appear when power is first supplied to the oven or after a power interruption or failure. Nothing is broken. Press CANCEL to clear the display, then set the time of day again on the control.

Common causes of Flashing Time, Clock, 12:00, Power Loss or Enter Time

  • Power was first supplied to the new range
  • A power interruption or failure at the house
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press CANCEL; the display clears. 2. Set the time of day on the control. 3. If the message keeps coming back without any outage, check whether the breaker is tripping. 4. If power drops often, tell us on a visit.

! Why to stop there
  • The message itself is normal after an outage and needs no repair.
  • If it appears on its own with no power loss, the cause may be in the supply, which we can check.
  • We give a written price before work if anything turns out to need a repair.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Flashing Time, Clock, 12:00, Power Loss or Enter TimeFlashing Time, Clock, 12:00, Power Loss or Enter Time questions
Does 12:00 mean my range has an error?

No. It shows that power was first supplied or came back after an interruption. Pressing CANCEL clears the display, and then you set the time of day.

Why did POWER LOSS appear?

The range lost power, even briefly, such as from a breaker trip or an outage. The control tells you so and expects the clock to be reset.

Do I need service?

Not for one outage. If the clock resets with no outage you know of, ask for a check of the power supply to the range.
