What Locked, Lock or Loc means

On KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges such as the KFEG500ESS and KFGG500ESS, Locked, Lock or Loc in the display tells you the lock feature is active. It shuts down the control pads and locks the oven door to avoid unintended use of the oven. The lock is preset to unlocked, so someone has turned it on. To cook again, unlock the oven control and the oven door.

Why can't I open the oven door?

With the lock feature on, the door is locked along with the pads. Unlock the control and the door will release, so do not pull on it.

Is the lock on from the factory?

No. The lock is preset unlocked and has to be turned on, so someone set it, possibly by accident while cleaning the panel. Press the lock key as your control shows to turn it off.

When do I call you?

If the display shows the lock gone but the door stays locked, or the pads still do not respond, have the latch or control checked by a technician.
