On KitchenAid commercial-style ranges with knob controls and app connectivity, such as the KFGC500JSS and KFGC506JSS, a blinking Start button is a prompt. After you pick a mode and temperature, the Start button flashes white after 2 seconds to remind you to press Start. If nobody acts for 2 minutes, the oven stops waiting on the selection. Owners often read the flashing as a malfunction when the oven is simply waiting for a press.
1. Turn the knobs to the mode and temperature you want. 2. Press the flashing Start button within 2 minutes. 3. Watch for the flashing to stop and the oven to begin heating. 4. If the prompt timed out, set the mode and temperature again and press Start. 5. If the button keeps flashing after you press it and the oven never starts, call us. On a gas range, leave the house and call the gas utility if you smell gas.
The range flashes Start white about 2 seconds after a valid mode and temperature are chosen, asking you to press it. The oven does not begin until Start is pressed.
The prompt runs for 2 minutes. If no action is taken in that time, the oven stops waiting on that selection, so you need to choose the mode and temperature again.
If you press Start within the window and the oven still does not begin heating, the prompt is no longer the explanation. At that point the control or a heating circuit may need a technician's check.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
