On KitchenAid built-in microwaves and combination microwave-wall ovens such as the KMBP100ESS or KOCE500ESS, F9 or F9E0 asks about a new installation or electrical connection. The code most often indicates the appliance is wired incorrectly. After a new install, the display shows F9 or F9E0 and the unit will not start. The cooking functions stay off, and nothing in the cavity will heat until the wiring is checked.
1. Think back: was the unit just installed or moved? 2. Press Cancel and note the code. 3. Do not try to rewire it yourself or reseat connections behind the unit. 4. Switch the breaker off and call the installer or us to check the supply wiring.
The control checks the incoming power. If the connection is incorrect, the unit refuses to run, and it shows F9 or F9E0 instead of risking damage.
Resetting does not correct a wiring mistake. It is worth trying once, but an installed unit that keeps the code needs its wiring checked. Please leave the wiring alone.
Rarely from wiring alone. If it worked for years, a control or supply issue is more likely, and we test both. Installers and electricians can often solve it quickly, and we are glad to inspect it too.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
