KitchenAid induction cooktops such as the KCIG550JSS display FC E0 for a possible problem with the electrical supply, the associated wiring or the Induction Module. The module is the electronics that actually drives the coils. With FC E0 on the display, zones may refuse to heat and the cooktop can shut down. Because the supply is on the list, a tripped breaker or loose connection is worth ruling out before any part is blamed.
1. Turn all zones off. 2. Check that the cooktop breaker has not tripped. 3. Reset the breaker by switching it off for a minute and on again. 4. Stop using the cooktop and phone us if FC E0 remains. 5. Do not open the junction box or touch the cooktop's wiring.
It is the power electronics that create the magnetic field under each zone. If it fails, or its supply is bad, the zone cannot heat even though the touch controls respond.
It can be, since the supply is on the list. We start by checking the feed at the cooktop, then move to the module if the feed is good.
We recommend not using the cooktop while the code is showing. A weak supply or module can make every zone unreliable. The supply or module may be failing for every zone, not just one. Using it could make the problem worse, so leave the cooktop off until it has been checked.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
