On KitchenAid induction cooktops, including the KICU569XSS, FC E1 says there may be a problem with the Cooktop User Interface (Touchpad) or its wiring. The cooktop cannot read your key presses reliably, so you may find zones that will not start or a display that sticks on the code. Because the cooktop relies on the touchpad for every command, the whole cooktop may seem dead until the touch side is repaired.
1. Turn off all zones and keep the control area dry and clear. 2. Hold the breaker off for a minute before turning it on. 3. Press the power key to see whether the cooktop responds. 4. A repeat of FC E1 means it is time to book a visit.
FC E1 names the touchpad or its wiring in general. FC E4 narrows it to the wire harness that links the touchpad to the induction module. Both lead to a touch-side repair.
Usually yes. We confirm the part for your model, quote it in writing and then order it. Sometimes only a connector needs re-seating, which costs far less.
A reset may clear it for a while. If the cause is a marginal cable or a weak touchpad, it will come back, often at the worst time, so we prefer to fix it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
