On legacy KitchenAid dishwashers from about 2008 to 2014, such as the KUDE60HXSS, KDTE104DSS and KDTE254ESS, the Clean/Complete LED blinking four times in a row with a pause between sets means an error was detected. The controls lock out and will not allow another cycle to start. You see the repeating group of four blinks and the dishwasher will not run.
1. Count four blinks in a row, then a pause. 2. Turn off power at the breaker for about a minute. 3. Restore power, close the door firmly and try a cycle. 4. Check that the filter and drain hose are not clogged. 5. If the blinking returns and controls stay locked, call us.
On these older dishwashers, an error was detected and the controls locked out. The pattern does not say which part is responsible, so it has to be diagnosed.
Cutting power at the breaker for a minute may clear it. If four blinks come back, the error is real and a technician should find it.
