On KitchenAid combination microwave-wall ovens like the KOCE500ESS, KOCE507ESS or KOCE900HSS, F1 E5 means there may be a problem with the microwave inverter, the magnetron tube, or the wiring to them. These parts generate the microwave energy in the upper cavity. When one weakens, the cavity heats poorly or stops, and the display shows the code.
1. Press Cancel. 2. Make sure the cavity is empty except for a cup of water for testing. 3. Switch off the breaker for a minute, then restore. 4. Run the microwave for thirty seconds. 5. If F1 E5 shows again, or the water stays cold, stop and call us.
The control may still start the fan and lights while the inverter or magnetron fails to generate energy. The F1 E5 code reports exactly that kind of loss.
Never. An empty microwave can damage the magnetron. Use a cup of water as the test load.
Usually yes when the oven is otherwise sound. We diagnose first, quote the exact price, and let you decide.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
