KitchenAid built-in microwaves and combination units like the KMBP100ESS or KOCE500ESS can show F2 E6 when the user interface or keypad, the control, or the associated wiring may be having trouble. As with F2 E0 through F2 E5, the display holds the code and pad commands are ignored. Expect to need a test visit rather than a quick home fix.
1. Press Cancel and wait. 2. Dry and clean the panel surface. 3. Switch the breaker off for a minute and on again. 4. Set the clock to see whether the keys respond. 5. If F2 E6 returns, keep the oven off and call us.
The oven checks the keypad circuit in several ways. Each check has its own last digit, even though the official wording is the same.
Our first step is the breaker reset described above. Beyond that, the control needs testing by a technician.
Tell us the full model number, the exact code, and whether any pad still responds. That lets us bring the right keypad and control parts.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
