On KitchenAid over-the-range microwaves such as the KMHS120ESS or KHMS155LSS, F3T1 points to the user interface thermistor, or the wiring to it. This thermistor monitors the temperature near the control panel. If its reading disappears, the control may shut down cooking and show the code to protect the electronics.
1. Press Cancel and let the microwave rest for ten minutes. 2. Make sure the area above the stove is not trapping heat. 3. Unplug the microwave for a minute. 4. Reconnect and test with a cup of water. 5. If F3T1 returns, call us.
The control electronics are heat sensitive, so the oven watches their temperature. F3T1 says that reading may be wrong.
Constant heat rising from the range can stress the area. Use the range vent and avoid blocking it.
Each F3T code names a different thermistor. F3T1 is the control side, and F3T2 is convection.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
