A KitchenAid range showing 1d12 reports that the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring that links them may have a problem. It is the sister of 1d11 in the 1d group, and no model number is tied to it. Common signs are an oven that does not reach temperature or a display that shows the code when bake is pressed.
1. Turn off the oven and let it cool. 2. Look inside, without touching, to see the thin sensor probe; make sure nothing rests against it. 3. Switch the breaker off for 60 seconds and back on. 4. Start a short bake. 5. If 1d12 shows again, stop and call us.
It tells the oven control the cavity temperature so the heating element can be switched on and off at the right moments. Without a good reading, the oven cannot hold temperature.
A sensor or control that reads wrongly can make the oven heat too long or too little. That is why the code stops normal use until the circuit has been tested.
Cleaning does not fix this code. Avoid spraying cleaner near the sensor probe, and call us if the code returns after you have cleaned and reset power.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
