On KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges, including the KFEG500ESS and KSEG700ESS, F01 is listed as pointing to the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring between them. The sensor is how the range knows how hot the oven cavity is. When the code shows, the display usually switches from the clock to F01, and baking or broiling may be canceled.
1. Press Cancel and let the oven cool if it was hot. 2. Make sure no foil or liners cover the oven walls or the area near the sensor. 3. Switch the range off at the breaker for a minute, then restore power. 4. Try a short bake at 350 degrees. 5. If F01 comes back, stop baking and call us.
It is the probe in the oven cavity that tells the control how hot the oven is. F01 points to that sensor, the control reading it, or the wiring between them.
The code is about the oven, so burners and cooktop elements may still work. Use the oven only after the code clears. If it keeps returning, have us look before relying on the oven.
A power reset can clear a one-time glitch. If the sensor or wiring is actually failing, the code returns, often on the next preheat, and that is when a test visit makes sense.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
