Appearing on KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges like the KFGG500ESS or KSEG700ESS, F02 points to the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring around them. In everyday terms, the range cannot trust its own temperature reading. The display shows F02 instead of the clock, and a bake in progress may stop. Preheating may also refuse to begin until the code is cleared.
1. Press Cancel, then let the oven cool with the door open if it was running. 2. Look for foil, trays or liners touching the sensor area at the rear of the oven. 3. Turn the range off at its breaker for one minute and restore power. 4. Preheat to a moderate setting and watch the display. 5. If F02 returns, call us before using the oven again.
Both point to the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring. The code number helps us record which condition the control saw, and we start our checks with the sensor either way.
The oven may stop heating when the code appears, so check your food and finish cooking another way. The code does not mean the food is unsafe by itself.
Very unlikely. The meaning is limited to the sensor, the control and wiring, so repair is the normal answer. We test, quote in writing, and back our work with a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
