Older KitchenAid ranges with hyphen-format electronic oven control codes may display F1-E for an oven control or wiring problem. The listing names only the control and the wiring that goes with it. You will see F1-E where the clock normally appears, and the oven may not heat or respond to its start pad until the control is checked. Nothing else, such as a sensor or latch, is named in the listing.
1. Press Cancel or Clear. 2. Turn the range off at its breaker, wait for one minute, then turn it back on. 3. Reset the clock, then try one brief bake. 4. Do not remove the back guard or any control panel. 5. If F1-E shows again, stop using the oven and call us, giving the exact reading.
It is the letter E, shown after the hyphen. Read the display exactly as printed, F1-E, when you call us, since F1-E and F1 E1 are separate readings with their own listings.
Repeated resets will not harm it, but they will not repair a failing control either. One or two attempts are enough. After that, the control and wiring need a proper test.
We test the control and its wiring first, then give a written price before any repair begins. If you approve the work, our workmanship is warranted for 30 days from the day it is finished.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
