What F3 E2 means

On KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges, such as the KFEG500ESS or KSGG700ESS, F3 E2 points to the oven temperature sensor, the warming drawer sensor if the range has one, or the wiring. So on models with a warming drawer, that drawer is part of the picture. The display shows F3 E2, and the oven or the drawer may stop heating.

Common causes of F3 E2

  • The oven temperature sensor is returning a wrong value
  • The warming drawer sensor, on models that have one, is failing
  • Wiring to a sensor is loose or damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and let the range cool. 2. If your range has a warming drawer, empty it and push it fully closed. 3. Pull power at the breaker for a minute, then switch it back on. 4. Test the oven with a short preheat. 5. If F3 E2 returns, stop using the oven and the drawer and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Both sensors are tucked behind panels with wiring that stays live
  • We need to know which sensor is the real cause before ordering anything
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F3 E2F3 E2 questions
Does F3 E2 mean my warming drawer is broken?

Not necessarily. On models that have one, the warming drawer sensor is one of the listed possibilities, along with the oven temperature sensor and the wiring. We test each to find out.

My range has no warming drawer. Does F3 E2 still apply?

Yes. The warming drawer sensor applies only if the range is so equipped. Without a drawer, the oven temperature sensor and the wiring are the places we check, and the visit goes the same way.

Can I use the oven if only the drawer seems affected?

We advise waiting for a test. The control shows one code for the whole group, so the display alone cannot tell you which heating function to trust. We quote the price in writing before any repair begins.
