On KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges, for example the KFGG500ESS or KSEG700ESS, F5 E2 is another main oven door reading. It points to the main oven door latch assembly, the door switch, or the wiring. When it appears, the display shows F5 E2 in place of the clock, and the control may not accept a bake or clean command until the door state is confirmed.
1. Press Cancel and wait until the oven is cool. 2. Close the door fully and check that nothing prevents it from seating. 3. Reset the range by turning its breaker off for a minute and on again. 4. Try a short bake. 5. Gas range: leave the house and call the gas utility from outside if you smell gas. 6. Should F5 E2 show again, call us before using the oven.
Sometimes grime in the seal stops the door from seating and tripping the switch. Wipe the seal gently when the oven is cool. If F5 E2 returns, the latch, switch or wiring needs a test.
Both carry the same listed meaning: the main oven door latch assembly, the door switch or the wiring. They are separate readings and neither is more serious. We start with the latch assembly either way.
After testing, we tell you which part needs work and give a written price before we start. Approved repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty, so you know what to expect.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
