F7 E5 on a KitchenAid freestanding or slide-in electric, gas or dual-fuel range, such as the KFEG500ESS or KFGS530ESS, means there may be a problem with the cooling fan or its wiring. The cooling fan moves air around the oven and control area while the oven is hot. Expect the code in the display, possibly a fan that runs poorly or not at all.
1. Press Cancel and let the oven cool with the door ajar. 2. Make sure nothing blocks the vents around the range, such as foil or a pan. 3. Turn the range off at the breaker for a minute, then back on. 4. If F7 E5 returns, avoid long bakes and call us.
It pulls air through the range so the control area and outer surfaces stay cooler during use. F7 E5 means the fan or its wiring may be a problem, so airflow may be reduced.
Both name the cooling fan or its wiring, and the check is the same for either code. Which one shows depends on how the control reports it.
It is better not to. Without good airflow the range runs hotter around its controls, so wait for the fan to be examined before long bakes or a clean cycle.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
