KitchenAid KDRS407VSD Range Service

A KDRS407VSD pairs four gas burners with an electric oven in a 30-inch freestanding body. Because it is dual fuel, one visit can involve two different kinds of work: gas ignition on the cooktop and electric heating in the oven.
We usually separate the two. On the cooktop, a burner that will not light gets its port cleaned and its spark tested, since cooking spills tend to collect right at the igniter. In the oven, we look at the bake element, the sensor and the door, because years of heat wear the hinges and the seal. When a cake bakes darker on one side, the element or the sensor is usually where the trouble starts. If you notice a gas smell, go outside and call the gas utility first. We always give the price in writing before we order parts, and the work is covered by a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Sparking with no flame can mean the burner ports are clogged or gas is not reaching the burner. We clean the ports, check the cap alignment and test the gas path before replacing any part.
We measure the bake element and compare a probe reading against the set temperature. A weak element or a drifting sensor are the usual causes, and each is tested separately.
Routine repairs such as igniters and the oven parts do not. If a gas line or shutoff valve needs work, we tell you in advance and give the price in writing.
