On KitchenAid undercounter freestanding ice makers in the KUIX, KUID and KUIO families, such as the KUIX535HPS or KUID508HBL, the "Cleaning Needed" or "Cleaning Cycle" light tells you to clean the ice maker. It comes on after about nine months, or earlier if ice production has fallen noticeably because of mineral scale. It is a maintenance reminder, not a breakdown.
1. Remove the ice from the bin. 2. Start the cleaning cycle with the approved ice maker cleaner, following your model's instructions. 3. Let the cycle finish before adding anything. 4. Discard the first ice produced. 5. If production stays low after cleaning, check the water supply valve and call us.
