F6 E3 appears on KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges, for example the KFEG500ESS or KFGG500ESS, when there may be a problem with the appliance manager or its associated wiring. It carries the same meaning as F6 E1, so the work centers on the appliance manager and the connections around it. The display shows the code, and normal oven operation may stop until the control is cleared.
1. Press Cancel once. 2. Turn the breaker for the range off for a minute and back on. 3. Let the display sit for a minute and see whether F6 E3 stays gone. 4. If it returns, do not keep cycling the breaker. Leave the oven unused until we visit.
Both point to the appliance manager or its wiring. Which one appears is the control's way of reporting where it noticed the problem, and the repair visit covers the same parts either way.
If the code stays away, the oven may run, but a code that returns means you should stop using it until it is checked. Running a range with a control problem can cause a worse failure.
It concerns control electronics. Tampering is not advised; a power reset from the breaker is the only step we suggest at home. We test the wiring safely during the visit.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
