On KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges like the KFEG500ESS and KFGG500ESS, Probe or Insert Probe appears when you have chosen a probe-based cycle. The control is looking for an input from the meat probe. Verify the probe is fully inserted in the meat probe jack, and insert the temperature probe into the food, in the center of the thickest part.
1. Press the probe plug firmly into the jack in the oven until it seats. 2. Push the probe tip into the center of the food. 3. Close the oven door. 4. If the message stays with the probe seated, try cooking without the probe and call us.
The probe cycle is selected, and the control is looking for the probe input. Without a probe in the jack, the cycle cannot begin as set.
The plug goes in the meat probe jack inside the oven, and the tip goes into the center of the food. Seat the plug fully, then close the door.
Check that the plug is pushed all the way in. If it still shows, the jack or probe may need testing, and you can cook without the probe meanwhile.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
