On KitchenAid induction cooktops like the KCIG550JSS, F0E1 is a cookware question. The cooktop heats only pans made of ferromagnetic material, such as enameled steel, cast iron or stainless steel designed for induction. If the pan does not suit it, the zone refuses to heat and shows F0E1, which owners often meet when trying aluminum, copper or glass cookware. The code usually clears the moment suitable cookware is placed on the zone.
1. Turn the zone off and remove the pan. 2. Hold a magnet to the bottom of the pan; if it does not stick, use another pan. 3. Pick enameled steel, cast iron or induction-rated stainless and center it. 4. Restart the zone, and call us if F0E1 appears with a magnetic pan.
Pans a magnet sticks to: enameled steel, cast iron and stainless steel made for induction. Aluminum, copper and glass alone will not heat, which is why F0E1 appears.
Not all stainless is magnetic. Many pots use grades that induction cannot heat. Try the magnet test on the bottom of the pan before deciding the cooktop has a problem.
If several magnetic pans of different sizes all trigger it, the cooktop may be failing to detect them. At that point we would test the zone and its sensing.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
