On KitchenAid built-in microwaves and oven combinations such as the KMBP100ESS or KOCE500ESS, F2 E5 says the user interface or keypad, the control, or the associated wiring may have a problem. Operation is blocked, and the code remains until power is reset or the cause is corrected. It belongs to the same group as the other F2 E-codes.
1. Cancel and wait a few seconds. 2. Remove any items leaning on the panel and wipe it dry. 3. Take power off at the breaker for one minute. 4. Restore power and check the clock. 5. Repeat code means a visit is needed.
The control compared the panel signals with what it expects and found a mismatch. That could come from the keypad, the control itself or the wires.
Older panels wear faster from heat and cleaning products, so the keypad is a common suspect, but we still test before we replace anything.
If the display is stuck on the code, usually not. Please wait for the repair instead of forcing it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
