KitchenAid over-the-range microwaves, including the KMHS120ESS, KMHC319ESS and KHMS155LSS, show F2H2 when there may be a problem with the vent fan and light switch on the lower left front side panel, or with its wiring. The control sees a switch state it does not expect. The fan or the light may stay on, stay off, or ignore your input.
1. Operate the fan and light controls several times to check for a stuck switch. 2. Clean around them with a dry cloth. 3. Disconnect power for a minute by unplugging, then reconnect. 4. Observe whether F2H2 returns. If it does, call us.
The control may be reading the switch as pressed. It is worth a prompt check because a fan running continuously wears the motor.
If the microwave heats normally, yes for a short time, but a bad switch can fail further, so schedule a repair.
Only if the test shows that is necessary. Often just the switch or its connection is replaced.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
