On KitchenAid freestanding and slide-in ranges with Wi-Fi, such as the KFEG500ESS, FC E1 reports that there may be a problem related to a connection time out, poor signal strength, a failed router, the Wi-Fi module in the range, or the associated wiring. It is a connectivity code, so cooking itself is usually untouched while the app link is down.
1. Check that your router is on and other devices are online. 2. Move the router closer or add a signal extender if the kitchen is far from it. 3. Flip the range breaker off for a minute and back on. 4. Reconnect the range in the app. If FC E1 returns, call us.
The code concerns the Wi-Fi link. Local controls usually still work, though app features such as remote start will not until the connection is restored.
If other devices lose the network too, start with the router. If they connect fine and FC E1 persists, the range's Wi-Fi module or wiring may be involved.
Both list the same causes: time out, weak signal, a failed router, or the range's Wi-Fi module. The numbers can show at different stages of a failed connection.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
