On KitchenAid commercial-style knob-control ranges such as the KFGC500JSS and KFGC506JSS, the griddle has indicator lights. The right griddle's Griddle Cooktop On light illuminates blue when the griddle knob is powered on. The left griddle has a preheat light that flashes. These lights tell you the griddle is working; they are not codes. If they do not match what you expect, check the knob position first.
1. Look at where the griddle knob is set. 2. If the blue light is on and you did not mean to heat the griddle, turn the knob to OFF. 3. Wipe the control area with a dry cloth. 4. If a light stays on with the knob OFF, or the griddle does not heat, call us. Smelling gas means going outdoors and calling the gas company.
On the right griddle, the Griddle Cooktop On light turns blue when the griddle knob is powered on. It simply confirms the knob is switched on.
It is the left griddle's preheat light. A flashing light is part of the indicator system, not an error code, so no repair is involved.
When a light stays lit with the knob OFF or the griddle will not heat. Then we should look at the range, and we give a written price first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
