KitchenAid KBDS250X Dishwasher Service

A KBDS250X is an older dishwasher, and by now most of them have run for years beside a sink with the same drain hose and the same seals they had when installed. The first thing we usually hear about is water left in the bottom of the tub after the cycle ends.
When that happens we clear the sump and the drain path, then check whether the pump turns freely, because a jammed impeller is far more common than a burned-out motor. After that we listen to the wash motor under load, test the door latch with the door closed, and look along the bottom of the door for a hardened or flattened seal. You get the price in writing before any part is ordered, and the repair comes with our 30-day workmanship warranty.
Not necessarily. A pump that hums but does not move water is often stalled by a bit of glass or a label in the impeller. We clear the sump and test the pump before suggesting a replacement.
A hardened door seal weeps slowly during the wash. Look for dampness along the bottom edge of the door. We check the seal and the door alignment, then decide whether the seal alone is enough.
The latch or its switch is not telling the control that the door is shut. We test the switch with the door closed and look at the strike for wear, which is cheaper to fix than a control board.
