On KitchenAid KHWS and KHWV front-load washers, such as the KHWS01PWH, KHWS02RMT and KHWV01RSS, the F variables from F4 to F16 are listed together as an electrical problem. The washer does not name a separate meaning for each number in this range. Owners see one of these codes and a cycle that will not finish. The recommended steps are to cancel the cycle twice, select DRAIN/SPIN if water remains, and restart.
1. Press Cancel twice. 2. If water remains in the drum, select DRAIN/SPIN. 3. Restart the washer and watch the display. 4. Do not open any panels or test wiring yourself. 5. If the F code remains, stop using the washer and call us.
Together they are the Electrical Problem codes. The washer lists them as a range and does not give each number its own separate meaning. That is why we test the washer rather than guess from the number.
Cancel twice, select DRAIN/SPIN if water remains, and restart. If the code is still there afterward, call for service instead of trying more. Do not open the washer to test wiring yourself.
If the code stays after a restart, stop using it. Electrical problems should be tested by a technician, so call us rather than running it again.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
