On KitchenAid induction cooktops such as the KICU509XSS, FC LF points to the left front hotplate (cooking surface, burner or element) or the wiring that serves it. The other zones may keep working, which is a useful clue. You will see FC LF, and the left front zone stays cold or cuts out. It is a position-specific code, so it tells us which zone to start with. Owners notice one cold zone while the rest may behave normally.
1. Turn all zones off and let the glass cool. 2. Look for cracks or marks on the left front area without touching beneath the glass. 3. Leave the breaker off for one minute, then switch it on. 4. Try another zone with the same pan; if FC LF returns, call us.
That is where the problem points. The other zones may work, but they share the same electronics, so we check the whole cooktop while we are there.
They are the zone positions: left front, left rear, right front and right rear. The code names the position, so tell us which zone is dead when you call.
Not for FC LF. Cookware issues give different codes. If the same pan heats on another zone, that confirms the problem is with this zone.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
