With F2 E4 on a KitchenAid electric single, double or combination wall oven, such as the KODE500ESS, the oven reports a possible problem with the user interface or keypad, the control, or the associated wiring. Presses may not register or may register twice, and the display holds the code until the cause is cleared. Presses may skip or register twice.
1. Check that nothing is stuck to the keypad. 2. Press Cancel. 3. Power the oven down at the breaker for one minute and restore it. 4. Try a basic timer. When F2 E4 remains, call us. Leave the breaker off if the display behaves strangely.
Test each key after a breaker reset. If some keys work and some do not, that points to the keypad, while a fully dead panel points to the control or wiring. If a few keys fail while others work, suspect the keypad. If all fail, suspect the control or its cable.
Worn contacts can register more than once. That can be part of this problem. Worn conductive pads can send repeat signals, which fits a problem with the interface.
Often under an hour for diagnosis, with a written price before repair. Keypad jobs rarely take more than a single visit once the part is identified.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
