On KitchenAid electric single, double and combination wall ovens with an electronic oven control, such as the KOSE500ESS single or the KODE500ESS double, the message Probe or Insert Probe means the control is looking for an input from the meat probe and is not receiving it. The probe has to sit fully in its jack and its tip has to be in the food. Until the control sees the probe, the display keeps showing the prompt.
1. Let the oven cool a few minutes if it is hot. 2. Push the probe plug firmly into the jack inside the oven until it seats. 3. Insert the probe tip into the center of the food, not touching bone or the pan. 4. Close the door and select the probe setting again. 5. If you did not mean to use the probe, cancel and pick a normal bake setting. If the prompt returns with the probe seated, stop and call us.
Not by itself. The message says the control is waiting for a signal from the meat probe. In most homes it clears once the plug is fully seated in the jack and the tip is inserted into the center of the food.
Place the tip in the center of the food, in the thickest part. A tip resting near the surface or sitting in the pan gives the control a poor reading, so reseat it and restart the probe setting.
Try a second probe plug seating with the oven cool, then call us. A repeat prompt with the probe fully inserted points to the probe, the jack or the wiring, and we diagnose that with a written price first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
