The door seal and glass keep heat where it belongs. A few easy habits protect both and help your oven bake more evenly.
The door gasket and glass do quiet work every time you bake. A damaged seal lets heat leak, makes the oven work harder, and can leave the cabinet around it hot.
Most wall ovens have a soft woven or tubular seal around the oven opening or the door edge. Run your fingers along it when the oven is cool.
Harsh scrubbing wears the fibers. If it is dirty, dab lightly with a damp cloth. Never use oven cleaner on it, since the chemicals break down the material.
Do not hang towels or lean heavy items on an open door. Hinges are built for the weight of the door, not for extra load. If the door sags or does not close flush, the seal can stop working even though it looks fine.
A cracked inner pane, or a rattle between the panes, should not wait. The glass is part of the heat barrier.
We can inspect the seal, hinges and door glass during one visit and replace what is worn. See the wall oven repair page, and use the service area page to confirm we serve your street.
